Johor students shine in Yayasan JCorp's 2025 choral speaking challenge

SHAH ALAM - More than 440 students from 22 schools across Johor showcased their talent at the Yayasan JCorp Choral Speaking Johor State Level 2025, held at Komtar JBCC on Aug 19 and 20.
Organised for the third year by Yayasan Johor Corporation (Yayasan JCorp) in collaboration with the Johor State Education Department, the competition aimed to strengthen English proficiency, public speaking skills and student confidence.
Carrying the theme 'Digital dreams, real futures,' participants impressed audiences with synchronised performances that blended storytelling and ideas.
Johor State Education Department Director Mohd Hanafi Samad praised the initiative, while Yayasan JCorp Chief Executive Officer Zaidatul Zurita Abdul Rahman said the programme goes beyond language development.
“This competition helps our students discover their voices and speak with confidence. Beyond language, it builds leaders who are creative, articulate and ready for the future.
"We want to nurture a generation that speaks with purpose, dreams without limits and leads with empathy and courage. Platforms like this give young people the confidence to believe in themselves and to be heard," she said in a statement.
The contest featured both primary and secondary school categories, judged by panels of experts.
Winning teams received RM5,000 for first place, RM4,000 for second and RM3,000 for third, along with trophies and certificates.

The champion schools will represent Johor at the National Choral Speaking Competition, scheduled for Sept 22 to 24 at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre.
Looking ahead, Yayasan JCorp will continue its mission of shaping future-ready youth by organising the English Carnival Johor State Level in September 2025.
