Big life lesson Suzanne Jackson has learned over the years

Suzanne Jackson likes to think of herself as a swan, 'calm on the surface but paddling like mad underneath'.

The 40-year-old launched her blog SoSueMe in 2010, and pretty much since then, she's been flat to the mat professionally, launching SoSu Cosmetics in 2016, followed by Dripping Gold in 2018.

Over the years, as she's been testing formulas, making strategic moves, and promoting her brands, Suzanne has had to learn to recentre, and in the process, learned some valuable life lessons.

Speaking to RSVP magazine about life lessons she has learned, Suzanne said: 'To pivot very quickly. I stop, assess, and refocus. My fashion line didn’t do as well as I hoped. I did not revisit it.

'It’s about moving at a pace that won’t get you caught up in long-term failures. I was fortunate, beauty was booming, so it was logical that I focused on that, and it is where my heart lies.'

Suzanne has struck gold as far as work/life balance is concerned, residing in Portugal with her hubby, Dylan O'Connor, whom she wed in 2017, for a portion of the year.

The entrepreneur said life in Portugal moves at 'a completely different pace', adding that it's 'peaceful' and 'everything moves a little slower' in comparison to Dublin.

This allowed for her to make the decision to step down as CEO of SoSu Cosmetics and Dripping Gold in July 2022. She later named Caroline Dalton as her successor.

In October 2023, after taking a year off to 'realign the brand, reconnect with the original vision, and return with a clearer direction', Suzanne resumed business as usual at SoSu Cosmetics and Dripping Gold, taking on the role of Creative Director.

12 months later, Suzanne announced makeup artist Paula Callan as the new Creative Director. What a journey she's been on over the past 15 years, no wonder she needs a change of pace every now and then!
