Mercy Unveiled: Forgiveness and Self-Reflection Lead the Way - Mufti Menk

KUALA LUMPUR – Genuine mercy from Allah manifests itself through forgiveness, releasing grievances, and undertaking honest introspection which cleanses the spirit and fortifies our bond with Him.

Forgiving is more than just a good quality; it paves the way to tranquility, recovery, and God's compassion.

During the recent Serene Soul: When Desires Meet Divine Orders conference, organized by Faith Events and CIMB Islamic, globally recognized scholar Dr Ismail Menk, commonly referred to as Mufti Menk, presented deep perspectives on personal development with an emphasis on the significance of relinquishment.

"One significant method to receive Allah's mercy is through learning how to forgive others. Releasing grievances, particularly those arising from trivial matters, serves as a strong means of internal purification," Menk stated before the crowded crowd.

He mentioned that everybody encounters pain and mistakes in their lives.

Though some issues demand seriousness and asserting one’s rights, numerous minor concerns ought to be let go.

"What do I truly gain or lose by holding on, and what peace might I find by letting go?" he asked, encouraging the audience to reflect.

Menk mentioned that letting go of small complaints frequently brings much greater relief to the heart and mind compared to holding onto them.

He similarly tackled the issues related to negative interactions online in our current era dominated by social media.

“In today’s age, hateful or ugly comments can affect us deeply, leading to stress, sleeplessness, or even depression. Learn to laugh, ignore, or move on. You can block the person or simply brush it off.

"If you can’t deal with the tough environment of online criticism, maybe it’s best to stay away from social media platforms. You should either learn to maneuver through this realm smartly or completely steer clear of it,” he stated.

He explained that releasing one's grip doesn’t imply accepting wrongdoing.

He mentioned, 'This does not mean you should never assert yourself. Should someone gravely infringe upon your rights, you have every right to respectfully defend yourself,'.

Menk also talked about how one's mindset is crucial when it comes to forgiveness.

"By changing our mindset, we can achieve serenity. Forgiving minor transgressions does not render you powerless; rather, it allows Allah's blessings to reach you through unforeseen avenues," he stated.

He encouraged the crowd to contemplate their behavior: “Do you occasionally contribute to the suffering of others?”

Although holding grudges might seem simple, Menk cautioned the audience about how frequently we ignore the hurt we may have inflicted upon others.

He urged everybody to ask for Allah's forgiveness, be compassionate, and refrain from causing others to suffer.

Cleansing your heart from inside.

He advised being more conscious of what you say, showing greater courtesy when interacting with others, and offering assistance within your surroundings. By transforming yourself, you help build a nicer and more appealing setting for those around you.

Menk stated that genuine cleansing of the heart originates from Allah, who possesses our hearts.

He encouraged the listeners to frequently remember Allah, offer genuine prayers, and dedicate more time in obeisance to attain His proximity.

Challenge yourself, even when you're feeling sluggish.

"If you do not assume accountability for your personal spiritual development, nobody else will step in. Lacking this commitment might lead to squandering more than just time; it could also result in forfeiting peace, mercy, and connections that draw you nearer to Paradise," he stated.

The Faith Events creator, Khairul Amar Razali, characterized the event's theme as a reflective trip aimed at synchronizing one's heart with the divine will of the Creator.

He saw the event as a holy ground for spiritual rejuvenation, allowing participants to halt, listen intently, and genuinely contemplate.

Thanks to the insights shared by our speakers and the combined energy of all present, let us acquire new perspectives, reinforce our commitments, and enhance our sense of purpose.

"I am deeply grateful to everyone who has dedicated their time and energy to make this event happen. May every stride made towards attending be considered an act of devotion, and let every instant spent here bring us nearer to the one who understands our spirits most intimately. Let’s start with the sincere intent to please Him alone, and may today assist each of us in finding the serenity that arises when we align our hearts with heavenly direction. From the riverside to the ocean, may Palestine gain freedom, God willing," stated Khairul.

Present as well was Ahmad Shahriman Mohd Shariff, CEO of CIMB Islamic, who reiterated the organization's dedication to comprehensive well-being.

He mentioned that this signifies CIMB's second year collaborating with Faith Events, after a successful run of five events the previous year that drew in 12,500 participants.

The emphasis this year is on a significant two-day gathering with three global experts.

At CIMB Islamic, we go further than just arranging events; our mission is to assist customers in achieving progress not only financially but also spiritually through promoting introspection, upholding moral principles, and elevating those around them.

Shahriman mentioned, "The invited scholars for 'Serene Soul: When Desires Meet Divine Orders,' which includes Menk, present various global viewpoints, notably from nations where Muslims do not form the majority population. They provide new angles on spirituality within Malaysia’s pluralistic community."

He emphasized CIMB's dedication to ethical banking through value-driven products such as the environmentally, socially, and government-conscious Durian-i offering, along with forthcoming services including Islamic estate planning and wealth management solutions designed to assist Muslims in managing their finances according to Sharia guidelines.
