King and Queen Lead Heartfelt Tributes to Honor Mothers
KUALA LUMPUR: Their Majesties Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, and Raja Zarith Sofiah, the Queen of Malaysia, extended warm Mother’s Day wishes to all mothers across the nation.
Their Highnesses conveyed their wishes via a posting on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page.
In the same message, the King sent a heartfelt Mother's Day wishes to the Queen as well.
“The Quran and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) emphasise the importance of honouring one’s mother, as paradise lies beneath her feet,” His Majesty said, according to Bernama.
He also prayed for his departed mother, Enche' Besar Hajah Khalsom Abdullah, as well as for the Queen’s mother, the late Raja Perempuan Muzwin.
Mother's Day is celebrated annually on the second Sunday of May.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim likewise offered his best wishes to all mothers, stating that they are not just the monarchs of their homes but play an essential role as the backbone in fostering and molding upcoming individuals.
"I extend my wishes for a joyful Mother's Day to all mothers who serve as the cornerstone of families and contribute to building a noble, exceptional, and Madani society," he shared on Facebook yesterday.
Anwar also shared a photo of himself with his late mother, Che Yan Hamid Hussein, his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and one of his daughters.
The MCA president, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, seized the moment to convey his appreciation and affection towards his mother.
Yesterday, he posted a photo of them both in the popular Ghibli style on Facebook.
“He dedicated these heartfelt thanks to his cherished mother and dear wife: ‘Thank you both for everything you've done for our family; I hope you have a wonderful time today,’ he expressed.”
Dr Wee likewise extended his wishes for a blessed and splendid day to all mothers.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, expressed profound thankfulness to mothers for dedicating their lives to nurturing their children with affection and care.
I will always remember the individual who has contributed the most to me — my mother, who has served as my pillar of strength since I was young.
My heartfelt thanks go out to my dear wife, who is the mother of our kids.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, highlighted that the responsibilities of mothers have become more demanding, especially considering their struggle with economic issues and the swift advancements in technology.
"Regardless of the difficulty, every mother consistently aims to give her utmost for her children. Being a mother comes with an exalted responsibility. It is essential for mothers to act as 'qudwah' (examples) for their offspring," he posted on Facebook.
The Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil likewise conveyed his Mother’s Day wishes to every mother, acknowledging them as pillars of strength, love, and relentless dedication.
"Without you, Mother, we would be nothing," he posted on Facebook yesterday.
The Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, stated that women, particularly mothers, have an essential part to play within familial structures and are significant contributors to national development.
In the administration, we acknowledge the roles of women as leaders, educators, custodians of values, and catalysts for societal transformation. Women, particularly mothers, are essential for building resilient communities and fostering thriving nations.
"To all the mothers nationwide, I wish for your continued blessings of good health, resilience, and elegance in each stride you make. Wishing you aHappy Mother's Day. The depth of your sacrifices cannot be measured," he stated.
The Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek, extended her regards with this year's theme, "A Mother’s Gentle Embrace," showing gratitude towards all mothers.
A mother's embrace embodies love streaming from an innocent heart, nurturing children selflessly and adoring them boundlessly. May all mothers continually receive blessings of wellness, joy, and heavenly favor.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, who was present at the 2025 national-level Mother's Day celebration in Sabah, highlighted that mothers encounter various difficulties, including managing work-life balance, bearing familial responsibilities, coping with financial limitations, having insufficient personal time, and shouldering the weight of ensuring their children receive proper education.
She emphasized during the event that mothers should also be more careful and measured, particularly when advising their children about using technology.
In light of the challenges faced by women, Nancy’s ministry has introduced the National Women’s Policy 2025-2030, themed “Empowering Women, Strengthening the Nation”, to support women and mothers across all segments of society in the country.
She said the policy outlines various initiatives, such as the Kasih Ibu Tunggal programme, a skills incubator for single mothers; MamaCare; the Wanita Bangkit programme; the Two Years Exit programme; Gig@bit; and Volvo Iron Women.
